Free nbn FTTP & HFC Speed Boost: 500/50, 750/50, 1000/100 | New: FTTP 2000/200, 2000/500 | HFC 250/100, 2000/100 @ nbn via ISPs
nbn FTTP and HFC speeds are getting faster from 14 September 2025.
The old speeds will automatically change to the new nbn FTTP and HFC 500/50, 750/50 and 1000/100 speeds. Many ISPs have confirmed there is no extra cost.
nbn HFC 2000/100, FTTP 2000/200 and FTTP 2000/500 will be available to order on the same day from selected ISPs. Contact an ISP to change speed and make an appointment for the installation of a new 2.5GbE nbn NTD.

250/100, 500/200 and 1000/400 is still available from selected ISPs and now costs between $85/m to $150/m. nbn HFC 250/100 will be available from 14 September 2025.

Speed notes.
- You may have to change ISP to get the speed you want.
- Download speed overhead allowance means a speedtest shows a faster download speed. For example, you can get 2113Mbps on the 2000Mbps plan.
- The maximum download speed on the 1000Mbps plan is 970Mbps even with the new 2.5GbE nbn NTD.
- Some ISPs are moving nbn FTTP and HFC customers from 100/40 to 500/50, 100/40 to 250/100 or keeping you on 100/40 until you contact your ISP and change to a faster speed plan.
- You may need a new router and new CAT6 RJ45 Ethernet cables to reach maximum speeds.
- nbn FTTP and HFC 12/1, 25/5, 25/10 and 50/20 speed plans don't get an automatic speed boost. Contact your ISP to change to a faster speed plan.
- nbn FTTN, FTTB and FTTC 12/1, 25/5, 25/10, 50/20, 100/20 and 100/40 speed plans are still available.

HFC 1-port NTD setup, features and lights(nbnco.com.au). The cable modem being used is the Arris CM3500 and it supports DOCSIS 3.1.
Port: one 2.5GbE RJ45 port (orange).
Cost: $0 when you signup for nbn HFC 2000/100 and for new nbn HFC installations. Some homes already have the 2.5GbE nbn HFC NTD installed.

FTTP 1-port NTD setup, features and lights(nbnco.com.au).
Port: one 2.5GbE RJ45 port (orange).
Cost: $0 when you signup for nbn FTTP 2000/200 and for new nbn FTTP NTD installations.

Ports: one 10GbE RJ45 port (grey) and three 2.5GbE RJ45 ports (orange).
Cost: $0, $110 and $300 have been reported. I'll update this part on Sunday when I have more details.
Maximum aggregate throughput limit: 2200/1100.
New nbn FTTP NTD, UNI-V phone and battery backup notes.
- New wall mount brackets are used for nbn FTTP 1-port NTD(nbnco.com.au) and nbn FTTP 4-port NTD(nbnco.com.au) in new installations.
- nbn FTTP 1-port NTD and nbn FTTP 4-port NTD are installed inside the existing nbn FTTP NTD wall mount bracket if you already have nbn FTTP.
- nbn FTTP 1-port NTD and nbn FTTP 4-port NTD pictures and wall mount bracket measurements(nbnco.com.au) (starting from page 37).
- nbn FTTP 1-port NTD and nbn FTTP 4-port NTD indicator lights can be switched off/on and the built-in UNI-V phone ports have been removed.
- nbn FTTP 1-port NTD and nbn FTTP 4-port NTD power supply unit plugs straight into a power outlet and the power lead is 1.5m in length.
- There are two nbn FTTP 1-port NTD and two nbn FTTP 4-port NTD made by Sercomm or Nokia. The ports are the same however there are small cosmetic differences.
- nbn battery backup is not compatible with the nbn FTTP 1-port NTD and nbn FTTP 4-port NTD. Buy a UPS to keep the nbn FTTP NTD, router and Wi-Fi working during a power outage.
